The five punk musicians will be back on stage in July after more than a decade
Avail has announced his long-awaited comeback, with the seminal band ready to play a special show in his hometown in honor of the 21st anniversary of his fourth album, "Over The James".
Although the five punk musicians from Richmond, Virginia have never officially separated, they have not been performing live since October 2007.
Avail – whose current band consists of singer Tim Barry, guitarist Joe Banks, bbadist Gwomper, drummer Erik Larson and Beau Butler – will be rehearsing for a return concert later this summer, marking the next anniversary of the release from "Over The James". , released in April 1998.
They will perform at the National in Richmond on July 19 with Reagan and Asylum in support. Tickets for the concert will be on sale starting Friday, March 29.
While Barry stated that Avail did not currently intend to shoot or record new music, the singer said noisey about what it was for the band to play together recently for the first time in years.
"We did not know if we could play music," he recalls. "The group, less me and Beau, got together and practiced many times. They did not want everyone to come and stay there, arms crossed, watching middle-aged men trying to remember songs that they never played. or 13 years old.
"So Erik [Larson] I called and said, "Come when you're ready." So I went to the practice site of Iron Reagan without repetition – I did not warm up, I did not see the songs again, I did not know what songs they were going to play – and I did not know. I plugged in my microphone. There was not even a lot of conversation. They just started. It was a bading whirlwind. They seemed bading fantastic. I do not know how a brain can hold so many stupid words, but I managed to get by in all the songs, pretty much. "
