Avengers: Endgame filmmakers were shocked to hear the audience laughing at Thanos' beheading

Anthony Russo and Stephen McFeely, two of the filmmakers behind Avengers: End of the game, were shocked to hear the audience's laughter when Thanos was beheaded.

With everything that had happened before in Avengers: war in the infiniteThe fact that Thanos fell so early in the film and with such ease was a surprise to many fans. His decapitation even produced some laughter from the audience.

Of course, Thanos would come back later in the film, but how did the directors of the film make the reaction of the audience at that moment? Well, in the commentary of the digital version of End of Game (via ComicBook.com), writer Stephen McFeely said:

"I was just saying … it's … it's … it makes me laugh every time I'm at the theater. Or as a nervous shock, no?

Anthony Russo, co-director, added, "People laugh at it and it always shocks me."

However, McFeely thinks that Alan Silvestri's score comes at the right time to go seriously from comedy: "But I think that Silvestri's score and the long, slow walk that leads you here make you leave," Oh, shit. Yeah, it's … We have nothing for the moment.
