The very reverend Professor Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante, moderator of
The General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in Ghana asked Christians and
Ghanaians as a whole renounce greed and the desire to achieve national development.
The rt Mante,
who gave the advice in his Easter Message to the Ghanaians on Thursday, urged
members of the public to use the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ as a
turning in their lives and changing their negative attitudes by
pursue the attributes that would bring progress and prosperity to their
respective companies.
He described greed as
a deadly spiritual and moral illness, which had been the biggest problem
across all generations.
"Exorcise greed
wherever we find it, whether in church, government or work
place or in the palace, "he said.
Rt. Reverend Mante said
there were several lessons to be learned from the Easter event, and illustrated
his message with the way Judas betrayed Jesus in the Bible, saying that God wanted
to teach the world that greed was the number one destroyer of lives and
communities around the world.
He said that people
always wanted more money than helping their communities to grow, but as a
as much as money could do good things, greed was a deadly disease, which
get people to betray their good friends and destroy all good
community.
"Judas was a disciple,
the treasurer of the disciples. Yet he wanted more money than the community of
to be loved. So he betrayed his master for money.
Rt. Reverend Mante said
was because of the envy of socio-political perspectives that Jesus was killed and
Even Governor Pilate, himself, understood it.
"As written in Matthew
27:18 because he knew that it was out of envy that they had delivered him Jesus. "
The moderator said:
unfortunately, there were several people in the churches, in the direction of the church, and
in societies that were still killing Jesus because of envy.
"If people are in a
political party, everything the other political party does must be wrong,
even though it's excellent. Once a good idea does not come from them, it takes

Rt Rev. Mantis
describes the syndrome of pulling down like a malign spirit that needs to be exorcised
wherever it is, noting that no nation could move forward in an atmosphere of
desire.

evil spirit of our families, churches, communities and our nation.
Easter teaches us that no great thing is accomplished without sacrifice, "he said.
I said.
He said some nations
had developed because of the sacrifices and sufferings of others in the past,
and for a community, a church or a nation to progress, somebody or some people
must be willing to sacrifice and suffer now.
It was essential that
many church leaders and political leaders have learned this basic principle
life, who insisted on the acceptance of "No Cross-No Crown", which he explained
as if their crown may not be just that of heaven, they should sacrifice
to allow their children or the community to share this glory now.
Rt Rev. Mantis
insists furthermore that for Christians Easter is a very special season because they
remembered and re-played the important act in the history of the salvation of
God, and identified with the sufferings of Christ, as they went through the
forty days of loan, including the week of pbadion.
He said that it was a
solemn moment for Christians and a period of serious reflection and prayer,
and that is why every Christian must have a "holy anger" against the
the marketing of Pbadion Week by Ghanaians or people from all over the world,
adding that "turning Pbadion Week into party events is an insult to
The Christian faith ".
Rt Rev. Mantis
advised the Christian community and all other citizens to observe Easter
season as the period of appreciation of the atonement, which pbaded the Good
Friday and the conquest of death and evil forces on Holy Saturday.
He said the complete
The triumph and hope that took place on Easter Sunday marked the
