The Nigerians beat Cameroon 4-2 on penalties to reach the final and won the first of three tickets to the FIFA Women's World Cup France 2019.
The game, as planned, started on a positive note with both teams making incursions into half of their opponents, but no real penetration.
Cameroon dominated the preliminary round and nearly opened the scoring in the sixth minute thanks to Gabrielle Aboudi Oguene, but Nigerian goalkeeper Oluehi Tochukwu fought back.
The Super Falcons took up the challenge, especially with Oshoala Asisat, creating holes in the Cameroonian defense, but most of the time, they failed to find the target.
The match went into high gear in the second half, Cameroon's best chance, but Ajara Njoya's shot rattled the crossbar in the 59th minute as the Nigerian goalkeeper had already been beaten.
Having nothing to separate after 90 minutes, the match was spent in overtime. And this time, both teams tried to win, but they lacked the last bite in terms of goals scored, which forced the game to go to the penalty shootout.
Nigeria was the luckiest of the two teams in the shootout by converting four of their kicks to two for Cameroon.
Nigeria scored four kicks from Ebi Onome, Ajibade Bisayo, Oshoala Asisat and Ngozi Ebere.
On their side, Njoya Ajara Nchout and Raissa Feudjio Tchuanyo scored for Cameroon while Enganamouit Gaelle Deborah and Edith Ngo Mbeleck did not score.
