A group calling itself the youth of Awutu Senya West condemned calls for the resignation of local MP George Andah, saying he had done more than former MPs.
This decision follows calls by another group of young people, the Patriotic Youth Association, who repeatedly asked the MP to step down, saying he was incompetent.
In an interview with Citi News, Awutu Senya West's spokeswoman for the Youth Concern, Felix Nenyi Abbiw Doughan explained that the MP, contrary to other claims, had done much more for the constituency than in the past.
"A group called an badociation of young patriots, which does not exist, asks Nenyi George Andah to withdraw. We would like to tell them that he will not be retiring today or tomorrow. We reaffirm our support for George Andah for a second term and beyond a second term because he has lived up to our expectations, "he said.
"We already had a minister who could not employ anyone from this riding. Did this group come to condemn her? When we suffered under his direction, this same group came to condemn it, "he said.
Young people in a separate statement, signed by its president, Ellis Onomah Botchwey, also argued that the recent research from the University of Ghana that some MPs might lose their seats in the 2020 elections does not apply. not to their MP, George Andah.
According to them, their MP showed his dedication and commitment to the riding by developing infrastructure and human capacity.
They therefore call on voters and the nation to disregard the call of "patriots of Awutu" calling on the MP to resign.
"We therefore urge the general public to ignore these publications intended to undermine the hard work of the Honorable Nenyi George Andah and his Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo," the group said.
