Interior Minister Ambrose Dery said vehicles used by masked men in the by-election of Ayawaso West-Wuogon were not police services.
Six people were shot dead at the Baweleshie voting center in the constituency, forcing the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to withdraw from the exercise for security reasons.
Voters were electing a new MP for the region in the by-election necessitated by the pbading of incumbent MP Emmanuel Kyeremanteng Agyarko, representing the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The partial election was won by Lydia Seyran Alhbadan, wife of the late MP on the ruling NPP ticket, garnering over 60% of the total valid votes cast.
Some members of the masked security forces arrived at the scene were in vehicles bearing the SWAT inscription and were sometimes driven by people in police uniforms.
But, appearing before the inquiry commission headed by Emile Short at Osu Castle, the Interior Minister strongly denied allegations that the vehicles would belong to the Ghanaian police.
National Security Minister Kan Dapaah and State Minister for National Security Bryan Acheampong are also expected to appear before the committee today.
The Commission opened its public hearing today 14 February. The Commission has asked members of the public who wish to submit information, statements or any other relevant document to do so through their secretariat.
It is chaired by the Dean of GIMPA Law School and a private lawyer, Ernest Kofi Abotsi.
Henrietta Mensah Bonsu and Patrick K. Acheampong have also been appointed members of the Commission.
The commission has one month to complete its work.
