It is well established that the most populous country in West Africa also has the highest crime rate, with unbearable proportions according to Ghanaian standards. But, of course, this is not the main problem at play in this discursive context. It is clearly at stake to ensure that any Ghanaian citizen or bona fide citizen who travels to Nigeria or any other ECOWAS member country is treated with the same high level of respect, dignity and cordiality accorded to residents Ghanaian non-Ghanaian from the ECOWAS zone or region. Lamely warning Ghanaian nationals who decide to immigrate to Nigeria to ensure that they have the necessary documentation to avoid being mistreated or expelled from the largest country in West Africa, is quite gap.
Instead, the government must determine whether the four people who were expelled from Nigeria are actually bona fide Ghanaian citizens established in our country, whether by birth or by naturalization; and also precisely in what specific circumstances the four were expelled from Nigeria. The unspoken message here, of course, is to ensure that our immigration authorities increase their level of vigilance by strictly monitoring the activities of non-Ghanai nationals residing in our country, so that similar crimes, but not limited, are beneficial. those for whom the four Ghanaian expellees were found guilty of violations or criminal offenses are quickly knocked down or considerably reduced to the bare minimum.
Second, the government must demonstrate the same level of urgency and value for our nationals from other countries that are alleged to have violated the immigration laws and standards of their country of origin or country of origin. In addition, the Government of Ghana must ensure that all personal belongings, personal effects and property legally owned or legitimately acquired by these expellees are fully recovered and repatriated with them.
