It is the end of a long period at Wipro since Azim Premji, president of the major software, claims it one day and gives the load to his eldest son, Rishad, after having run the company for more than 50 years. Premji, 75, announced Thursday his resignation from his position as executive chairman on July 30.
However, he will continue to serve on the board as a non-executive director for five years beginning on July 31, 2019. He was awarded the title of founding president of the company. "Rishad Premji, head of strategy and board member, will badume the role of executive chairman of the company (effective July 31)," Wipro said in a statement.
