Babatomiwa Adesida, Private Sector Engagement Specialist for the Sahara Foundation, was selected as one of the most influential people of African descent in 2019 (MIPAD) in recognition of his contribution to humanitarian work and the promotion of goals. sustainable development (SDG).

The recognition of the Adesida people was announced by MIPAD 100, a global civil society initiative in support of the implementation of the International Decade for People of African Descent, proclaimed by Assembly resolution 68/237 United Nations General Assembly.

Adesida will be celebrated alongside the other winners at the 2019 MIPAD Recognition Week in New York from September 27 to October 3, 2019 on the sidelines of the 74th Annual General Assembly of the United Nations, said Kamil Olufowobi, founder and CEO of MIPAD.

Babatomiwa Adesida promotes partnerships between the Sahara Group and international organizations such as the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in New York and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in Paris. Sahara Group and UNDP have recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding on promoting sustainable energy in Africa. Adesida will play a key role in the implementation of the project, which aims to improve access to clean and affordable energy through collaborative interventions in selected countries for the effective achievement of the SDGs.

Adesida has over 12 years of experience in the private sector and has been involved in the development, implementation and monitoring of projects and policies by the private sector, in partnership with many governments from different countries, including Nigeria, Ghana, Cote d'Ivoire, Tanzania, Zambia, Switzerland, Singapore and UAE

Adesida obtained an Honors degree in Sociology from the University of Ibadan in Nigeria and a Master of Science degree. in public policy from the University of Bristol, UK, where he won a partial scholarship for international students. He has been nominated for several CSR awards, including the Nigeria Future Awards, the Nigeria CSR Awards and the 100 most influential CSR (Global List) leaders in India.
