Takoradi kidnapped baby The missing baby

Takoradi police launched a manhunt for an average-aged woman who allegedly stole a one-year-old boy from his mother at the Takoradi market circle last Friday night.

The incident occurred around 4:30 pm in front of the Market Circle post office in Takoradi.

The mother, Nana Akosua Bowaa, an Amanful resident in Takoradi and a small trader at Market Circle, was devastated by the development.

The suspect reportedly approached Akosua Bowaa, whose two children were crying at the time.

The suspect, posing as a client, reportedly asked the mother to let her take care of the two children to better serve the clients.

The suspect eventually posed as a trader on the market.

After realizing that the children bore the name of sheep, the culprit told his mother that she was also a sheep.

According to police sources, when the suspect realized that the mother was selling fiercely, she transferred the children to a nearby bakery vendor on the pretext of buying them for the children.

The older boy started to cry, so the suspect returned to the mother and told the woman that she would take the other child who was with the seller.

The suspect chose the one year old boy, who was calm at that time and escaped.

The mother, who felt the danger, then sounded the alarm, but all efforts to find the boy proved futile.

Fortunately, a closed circuit television (CCTV) camera from some of the region's banks captured the unidentified woman who was cuddling the baby as she walked away from the market.

The incident has since been reported to the Market Circle police who opened an investigation.
