Mawusi Rose Fiaku, 42, and her accomplice, Lawson Lartey (32), her boyfriend, appeared in court Wednesday after being accused by the Western Region Police Command of stealing children on Tuesday. and conspiracy to commit a crime.

The court remanded the two men into custody so that they reappear on April 5, after Mawusi pleaded guilty to all charges and asked the judge to have mercy on her. because of her pregnancy.

The court then ordered the police to perform a pregnancy test on Mawusi in a licensed health facility.

Lawson Lartey, however, pleaded not guilty to his charges. His lawyer, Emmanuel Kofi Arthur, told the court that Lawson had been misled by the circumstances. Mawusi had told her about her pregnancy and had given birth, since Lawson was abroad.

Lawyer Arthur also told the court that, when his client had returned to Ghana, he had asked where his baby was and that after three days of intense pressure from Lawson, Mawusi had returned with the stolen baby. from one year.

The suspect then took the one-year-old boy and his siblings to a nearby bake shop and bought a few. He then returned the siblings, leaving the boy aged one year to the bake seller.

The suspect then promised to bring back the boy, but then left the boy without the mother's noticing.

Later, the victim's mother, realizing her absence at the baker's, sounded the alarm, but it was too late to locate her baby.

The frustrated mother started looking for her baby but could only get pictures of her missing baby and the suspect from some of the banks whose video surveillance had captured them.
