Residents of Saki and Bediako in the Kpone-Katamanso municipality of the Greater Accra region called on the new Chief of the Municipal Executive (MCE), Mr. Samuel Okoe Amankuah, to prioritize the rehabilitation of their roads.
In an interview with the Ghanaian news agency in Kpone, Mr. Richard Anani, a taxi driver in Bediako, said the new MCE should help fix the municipality’s deplorable roads to gain the support of residents in his administration.
Mr Anani added that the municipality has generated enough income but has been denied development and lamented that taxi and trade drivers have spent all their savings on spare parts due to the poor condition of the road networks in the country. within the municipality.
He explained that the criminals took advantage of the bad state of the roads and attacked the inhabitants who were going about their normal tasks; when the roads were in good condition, the police could react quickly to combat any criminal activity.
Ms Faustina Asare hinted that the welfare of the members of the Unity Committee should be a concern for the MCE as development at the local level begins in the Unity Committee and reiterated the call to repair the roads in the municipality.
Other residents also expressed similar sentiments to the Ghanaian news agency and instructed the new MCE to travel to the field, engage strategic stakeholders, traditional leaders, traders, commercial drivers, politicians and religious members.
Residents noted that periodic engagement with people would help the new MCE appreciate the task on the ground, mobilize people to support it in its execution, “but if it stays in the office it will fail.”
Mr. Samuel Okoe Amankuah was appointed on Thursday third chief of the municipal executive of the Municipal Assembly of Kpone-Katamanso.
