The 31-year-old struck twice and put on another as his team got the better of Burnley on Sunday

Gareth Bale says he’s been happy since returning to Tottenham after the winger scored twice in his side’s 4-0 win over Burnley on Sunday.

The 31-year-old struck just two minutes into the game before preparing Harry Kane for Spurs second in the 15th minute. After Lucas Moura scored 3-0 shortly after the half hour mark, Bale closed the scoring early in the second half when he encountered a pass from Son Heung-min and shot past Nick Pope .

Bale had only started two of his eight Premier League appearances and had only scored once before helping him pull his side to victory over Sean Dyche’s men.

What was said?

But the Welsh international denies having been frustrated with his lack of playing time this season and is hoping to play a bigger role after helping his side record their second win in seven matches.

“The most important thing is that we knew we weren’t on a good race and that it was important to come back to victory,” he said. BBC Match of the Day.

“It’s not just about scoring. It’s about our full game and helping the team. I’m delighted with the goals and the help and all I can do for the team.

“I have been happy all season. In the locker room, I feel comfortable and have fun. I’m happy and I’m sure it shows on the pitch.

“I wasn’t upset to be substituted. There are a lot of games to come. It’s important to keep building minutes in every game.”

What’s next for Bale and Spurs?

Sunday’s result puts Tottenham in eighth place in the Championship, six points behind West Ham, which is in last Champions League qualifying spot.
