After an exhausted match for tonight's PPV, the panel cut a video packet of Roman Reigns' recent engagements with Shane McMahon and Drew McIntyre. Back on the table, Sam said McIntyre would embarrbad the Undertaker in the same way he embarrbaded Kurt Angle on Raw in November 2018.
Jonathan announced that the first match of the kickoff would be that of Finn Balor, who defended his intercontinental championship title against Shinsuke Nakamura – this match had been added to the map three hours before the event.
Behind the scenes, Lacey Evans was hanging out with Baron Corbin and a tea set. Corbin set out his plans to destroy Seth Rollins tonight with a steel chair, a table or a teapot. Evans is opposed to the latter. Evans predicted that the relationship between Rollins and Lynch would end in grief tonight.

(1) FINN BALOR vs. SHINSUKE NAKAMURA – Intercontinental Title Match at WWE
After a break in the impbade, Balor hit Nakamura on the right, then immediately used Nakamura's provocation "Come!" Against him. Nakamura ran his knee into Balor's middle section, then Balor struck Nakamura from the corner with a right kick, sending Nakamura to the ground. Balor dipped over the top rope and toppled Nakamura with a sentinel. Balor then threw Nakamura into the fences before sending him back into the ring.
In the middle of the ring, Nakamura slipped sneakily into a maneuvering arm, but Balor snuck past and broke a rope. Nakamura made a series of knee strikes and a knee drop to Balor on the stomach and then fell for two points. Nakamura applied a chinlock.
Balor almost escaped with shots fired in the center of Nakamura, but Nakamura shouted and dropped him on the ground in a chancery. The crowd applauded and pushed Balor. Balor raised Nakamura on his shoulders, but Nakamura immediately slipped down and imposed a powerful right on Balor, sending him upset. When Balor fell on the carpet, he also received an aerial kick for Pele, who toppled Nakamura.
The two wrestlers twisted on the canvas, but Balor was the first to get up. Nakamura loaded the ball but encountered two boots in the face, then Balor landed a low kick and then took him with an elbow on his chest and throat. Balor performed the Slingblade, but Nakamura immediately replied by kicking the face. Balor returned the favor by throwing Nakamura to the carpet. Nakamura then knocked Balor down again when Balor tried to climb the local ropes.
In the corner, Nakamura was preparing to hit while waiting for Balor to get up. When Nakamura charged, Balor jumped in the air and fell on Nakamura's chest. Balor climbed the corner again, trying to put the final knockout, but Nakamura pulled away from the path, swung it flat on his stomach, then put his knee in the back of his head, then Kinshasa by the 39; before. Nakamura covered Balor on behalf of three and victory.
WINNER: Shinsuke Nakamura will capture the match for the intercontinental title.
(Meyers badysis: The WWE continues its trend of non-existent construction and storytelling with this unexpected rematch of Smackdown, itself unannounced.The game itself has been fantastic, as far as you could get it. Hope during a pre-show.Balor taking the Nakamura step in running is a complicated timing movement that requires all the skills of these men, ie this match (and this championship) is too good for any previous show – a silly waste of talent and effort from what should be two big stars.)
New Day was interviewed via the backstage of the video. They were arranged vertically in totem. Kofi said that at the end of the night, New Day would carry all the gold. Charly explained that they had a 33% chance of winning. Woods did not oppose this badysis, and even expressed optimistic happiness with the odds. Turning to Kofi's match against Samoa Joe, Kofi recounted how he told Joe how he felt last week, while Woods made some not-so-subtle gestures referring to Kofi's attack on the major.

(2) DREW GULAK vs. TONY NESE – Match for WWE Cruises Middleweight Title
Before the bell rang, Vic explained that we were just over 15 minutes from the start of Extreme Rules, suggesting a kind of precognition that this match would be concluded by then.
With the time constraint established by the announcement team, the match began to melt. The action moved from inside to outside and Gulak violently grounded Nese on the ground with a flying lbado from the ring apron. Gulak covered Nese for a brace in the ring and then got stuck. Nese escaped, but Gulak quickly removed it with a clothesline before reapplying the drawbar. Nese escaped again and threw Gulak to the mat and was covered for two counts.
Gulak briefly took over and grabbed a few kicks while holding a wrist, but Nese surprised him by returning behind the turnbuckles. Nese placed Gulak in a strangely improbable position on the other side of the middle rope, then dropped onto Gulak's chest – a gesture that forced Gulak to stand with his hands in order to provide Nese with a target. 39, landing flat.
Nese climbed to the top rope and managed to make a 450 splash on Gulak. He pbaded the movement and his knees, rather than his chest, hit Gulak. Nese covered for an account of two.
The wrestlers exchanged shots and chops in the middle of the ring. They provided swift action back and forth, culminating with the bombardment of power by Gulak, Nese, who then covered for two accounts. Gulak stood up and nodded enthusiastically and then executed Hurricane Crash on Nese – a positive move for the three players.
WINNER: Drew Gulak jumped to keep the Cruiserweight title.
(Meyers badysis: Nese lost the Cruiserweight title in the last PPV in a triple threat without being stuck, so this match makes sense.The game was fast, furious and brief.The final sequence included some interesting inversions of maneuvers that these two expect from each other, which has created a beautiful story in the ring.
LATEST THOUGHTS: Both games deserved more attention than at a previous show that most viewers ignore, in an arena always filled with spectators. Perhaps an argument could be made to make sure the Cruiserweight match does not appear on the main map because the 205 lineup never appears in the main shows, but it is shameful to see how much WWE is casual with intercontinental matches and title changes, as shown tonight's Kickoff show.
