Bank of Ghana named Central Bank of the Year

Bank of Ghana was voted Central Bank of the Year by the British magazine African Leadership Magazine.

The Bank of Ghana was one of the winners announced in all 12 categories by the 2021 African Business Leadership Awards (ABLA).

Sources say the Bank of Ghana was recognized for several introductions during the year under review and for the way it supervised the banking sector.

The winners were unveiled by the magazine’s publisher Dr Ken Giami at the group’s UK headquarters after the editorial board reviewed the votes gathered and supporting documents received to bolster the nominations.

This follows recent awards won by the bank and Governor Dr. Ernest Addison over the years on how the banking industry has been run over the years.

About the award

According to the UK-based magazine, the price was hotly contested. The awards attracted over 300,000 entries on the website and social media platforms, as well as email submissions and physical posts from Africans across the continent and the Diaspora.

All winners and their finalists will receive a trophy and will be formally decorated with the instruments of honor at the 6th Invest in Africa (Virtual) Summit, which will be held September 16-17, 2021 starting at 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. (GMT) daily, with the theme: Africa 4.0: Redefining Growth, Sustainability and Innovation.

Winner Announcement Process

The winners emerged through a hotly contested 3-step points-based selection process which included a call for entries; a call for online voting for shortlisted candidates; and final review by the editorial board of nominations and voting submissions – using supporting evidence and voting considerations in their final decisions to decide the winners of the 2021 African Business Leadership Awards.

Online voting was responsible for sixty-five percentage points and supporting evidence was responsible for 35% in the final selection process of the 2021 winners.

The Rewards Editor

Editor Dr Giami while revealing the list of winners congratulated all nominees in the categories and said every nominee deserved to be recognized and commended for their selfless service to nation building.

In his speech, the editor said that the Africa Business Leadership Award (ABLA) 2021 celebrates courage, purpose and impact on the business environment in Africa, especially in what continues to be a difficult time for most people due to the impact of the coronavirus.

He further added that the leaders who have emerged victorious in the different categories have exhibited these famous attributes with admirable abilities and deserve great distinction.
