According to a statement issued by BOG on Monday, April 8, the tickets will have enhanced security features adapted to the changing technological landscape.
Enhanced banknotes will also come with improved durability and legibility.
New enhanced security features include an optically variable magnetic image (SPARK LIVE), a new enhanced security thread (RAPID), a more visible watermark, and an improved iridescent band on the back of the ticket.
Enhanced and existing ticket series will circulate.
Optically variable magnetic image (SPARK LIVE):
It is a brilliant image that changes color of the cowrie shell on the GH 10, the star on the GH 20 and the cocoa pod on the GH 50. When the note is slanted, a shining line between cowries, stars and cocoa pods goes up and down. The color of the function also changes from gold to green when it is tilted.
New Enhanced Security Thread (RAPID):
It's a shiny broken line with movement
which crosses the bill from top to bottom. It is continuous when viewed against the light. When the note is tilted, a star expands and contracts while the denomination value remains stationary.
Larger watermark:
It's the image of Tetteh Quarshie with a cocoa pod that has been made more visible in the star's star zone. It becomes visible on both sides when it is seen against the light. The naming value is also visible in the watermark area.
Improved iridescent band on the back of the ticket:
This is a gold band with gold bars at the back of the bill that extends from top to bottom. We can see more clearly when the note is inclined against the light.
BOG also revealed that the following key design elements would remain unchanged in the enhanced tickets; the portrait of the Big Six, the denominational colors, the dimensions of the different denominations and other main and background images.
