Glofert Company Limited is the largest fertilizer blending company in Ghana.

The event, organized by IFDC, aimed to provide international training on the production and distribution of balanced fertilizers for better crop nutrition for small farmers.
Seventy delegates from twenty-five countries of the world attended the five-day training to learn how to improve the production of fertilizer to increase production.
Glorfert Limited is currently the largest fertilizer blending plant in Ghana. It mixes 2,400 metric tons or 48,000 bags of mixed fertilizer weighing 50 kg a day.
The facility, which began operations about two years ago, is one of the projects initiated under the One District, One Factory (1D1F) project and is expected to be commissioned soon.
It has employed more than 220 permanent and casual workers from neighboring towns and communities in the district.
Reverend Benson said that one of his team's priorities was to be able to identify the problems faced by farmers by putting in place measures adapted to their fertilizer composition.
He added that most farmers complained of low yields and indicated that the problem could be the result of poor agronomic practices, poor application of fertilizer and the use of 39; fertilizers commercially available over the years.
& # 39; & # 39; We believe that the soil in Ghana depletes nutrients and that it is necessary to replenish its nutrient reserves, but the only way to do this is to test the soil and mix the specific fertilizers with the soil requirements. & # 39; & # 39; he stressed.
He said that because of this, fertilizers could be mixed for each crop because each crop needed certain nutrients to be able to produce maximum yield.
Reverend Benson said that with the arrival of Glofert, importation of already mixed fertilizer would be reduced, adding that if previously Ghana imported everything that was mixed, there are now internal companies capable of producing fertilizer responding to Farmers.
Mr Patrice Annequin, from IFDC, said his training would shed light on all the actors on the fact that farmers could not afford to use cover fertilizer and that it was necessary to find new ways to adjust crop needs according to the soil in order to use fertilizer.
He explained that Ghana is at the forefront of the new approach of providing farmers with more appropriate fertilizers to improve agricultural production.
He said Ghana had moved from using cover fertilizer to balanced fertilizer, which is an indication that for the first time, Ghana's farmers would use different types of fertilizer in according to the cultures and the region in which they produced.
