Barbara Windsor radiates during a rare public appearance after the diagnosis of Alzheimer's

Barbara Windsor made a rare public appearance today to watch the musical Only Fools and Horses in the West End of London.

Aged 81, suffering from Alzheimer's disease, she attended the performance of the show in the morning before meeting the cast with her husband, Scott Mitchell.

The former EastEnder Barbara was all smiling a day and said, "The show was wonderful. This is the kind of show I really like and I love Del Boy.

"It's the best entertainment I've known for ages.

"I felt such warmth on the part of the public. I would give it five stars!

Today, Scott and her caregivers are taking care of Barbara in her London home, while she is fighting for a loss of memory.

Barbara's husband, Scott, and a series of EastEnders stars are also preparing to host the London Marathon to raise funds for the Dementia Revolution campaign.

The team wants to raise £ 100,000 for vital research to fight the disease and find a cure.

Scott hopes that Barbara will be fit enough to wait with the team on arrival.

Addressing Loose Women last week, he said, "It's the dream. Everything is set up so that she is there. I know what she looks like, she will be determined to be there.

"For me personally, when I want to cry and my legs hurt and I want to stop, the vision of her, at the other end, my attack for not I'm getting up. "

The musical Only Fools has been performing at the Royal Haymarket Theater since February. Among the actors are Tom Bennett as seductive villain Del Boy Trotter, Ryan Hutton in the role of his unfortunate brother Rodney and Paul Whitehouse in the role of the charming grandfather.

The musical was the final writer of the project and the creator of the series John Sullivan was working there before his untimely death in 2011.
