Barcelona "in talks to sign the Spanish striker Rodrigo Moreno of Valencia"

Barcelona "is in advanced negotiations to engage Spanish international striker Rodrigo Moreno of Valencia" while the Nou Camp club is ready to pay its £ 106 million release clause.

Ernesto Valverde gave priority to a new striker this summer as Barcelona looked for a substitute for Luis Suarez. They have been linked to different players.

According to Diario Sport, the negotiations to sign Rodrigo, 28, are progressing after Barcelona has agreed to pay the fees to release him from his contract at Mestalla, which will end in 2022.

The Brazilian Rodrigo scored 15 goals and contributed 10 times in all competitions last season. This last part is considered more important for Valverde, who wants variety and versatility from his attackers.

Barcelona could include a partial exchange player from Rodrigo, who joined Valencia from Benfica in 2015 and has scored 51 times in 185 matches since.

Jasper Cillessen and Denis Suarez are part of the group that wants to join Valencia to bring down the asking price.

Sport reports that Rodrigo has also received an offer from the Serie A Roma team, but he seems to want to stay in Spain to try to earn a spot in the country's Euro 2020 team.

He scored five goals in 17 outings for Spain, including one against England at Wembley on the final day of the UEFA League of Nations.

Moreno scored what turned out to be the winning goal against Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final last week.
