Barcelona has recruited Louie Barry, the English Under-16 striker, for a three-year contract with West Bromwich Albion.
A native of Birmingham, Barry, 16, has been working with the Baggies since the age of six and has declined to offer a professional contract with the championship club.
West Brom will receive £ 235,000 in compensation from the La Liga champions, according to the Reuters news agency.
Barcelona says Barry will play for his under-19 team next season.
The Spanish club said that the "striker" is considered one of the best young players in English football "and" has pbaded the corresponding medical tests ".
Barry won the gold ball with three goals as he helped England U-16 win the Val-de-Marne, a UEFA tournament, last year.
