The manager said the humility of the Champions League last season had taught his team not to be complacent towards Lyon
Barcelona must know that it is not necessary to lower the guard after the release of the Champions League in Rome last season, announced his trainer Ernesto Valverde.
The La Liga giants looked set for a spot in the semi-finals after winning the first leg 4-1 at home but surrendered to the Italian capital, scoring the lost goal after a humiliating 3-0 defeat.
The Valverde players are back to the playoff game Tuesday with a visit to Lyon and the Barca boss is confident that there will be no complacency of this type this time around.

"Rome has learned that you should not lower your guard," he said at a press conference.
"In the first stage, we need a high guard – we will take it into account.
"When we played Roma, everyone said he was a weak opponent, which did not help us.
"We are looking forward to playing because we have been waiting for the game for a while and we are under pressure because we know the enthusiasm of our fans."
After three successive draws, including a 1-1 home win against Real Madrid in the first leg of the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey, Barca found ways to win Saturday with a slim 1-0 win over Real Valladolid.

However, not all fans are satisfied, with some catching up on Valverde's tactics after the team only managed two goals in their last three outings.
The Barca boss, who has recently signed a one – year extension of his contract, is however not left out and insists that his team plays offensive football.
"Everyone has their own opinion," he added.
"We are a team that plays clearly to attack, I do not have much more to say, we will see on Tuesday."
Lyon playmaker Nabil Fekir will miss the match due to a suspension and Valverde admits it gives a boost to Barca's chances.

"I will not deny that he is a player capable of deciding on any match," he said.
"He plays a crucial role in his team's offensive play, which is a significant loss and we will try to take advantage of it."
