Barcelona has reached an agreement to hire Emerson's defender from Atletico Mineiro for 12 million euros.
Aged 20, he will join Barca on July 1 and has signed a five-year contract until the end of the season 2023-24.
In the meantime, he will acclimatise to LaLiga with a loan to Real Betis for the rest of the period.
Emerson currently represents Brazil at the Under-20 South American Championship in Chile and Barcelona has compared his style to that of Dani Alves in his statement announcing the signing of the deal.

It is believed that Barca's athletic director, Eric Abidal, went to watch him in action against Gremio on Nov. 3, during an observation trip to South America.
The LaLiga champions are active on the transfer market this month. They signed a contract with Frenkie De Jong, the much-loved Ajax midfielder, starting in 2019-20. He also lent Kevin-Prince Boateng to Sbaduolo to strengthen the defense.
Team B's product, Munir El Haddadi, joined Sevilla on a permanent basis, while Denis Suarez was loaned to Arsenal after signing a one-year contract extension.
