Egyptian political satirist and comedian Bassem Youssef is developing an animated series based on his upcoming book Nadia’s magical reality.

According to Deadline, Youssef collaborates with Powerhouse Animation Studios to adapt the book, inspired by his own life experiences.

The book is described as “a humorous and heartfelt story about prejudice, friendship, empathy and courage”.

Youssef co-wrote the book with Catherine R Daly and Douglas Holgate did the illustrations.

The book “Nadia’s Magical Reality” will be released in February of next year.

Youssef will be the executive producer of the show as well as the voice of one of the key characters.

Brad Graeber and Daniel Dominguez will also be executive producers.
