The Vice President of the Republic, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, left Accra, Ghana on Monday, June 17, 2019 for Paris, France, to attend the 8th Global Conference of the Transparency Initiative. Extractive Industries (EITI).
The conference will provide heads of state, civil society activists and industry leaders with the opportunity to discuss emerging trends and best practices in the area of good governance of natural resources.
Vice President Bawumia will participate in the opening plenary session, which will set the stage for the conference, highlighting global trends and future directions for EITI and the broader extractive sector governance agenda. This is the theme "Open Data, Build Trust – Extractive Governance in a Changing World".
The Vice President will also hold a number of meetings with key stakeholders, including the new EITI Chair, Helen Elizabeth Clark, to discuss the emerging issues facing the extractive industry in the region. world, but especially in Africa. Ms. Clark is a former premier of New Zealand.
