Bayern Munich ex: Phillipe Coutinho to travel to Brazil for additional knee treatment

Former Bayern Munich triple winner Phillipe Coutinho has suffered a knee injury since January. He has already had two operations to try to resolve the problem – but to no avail. Marca, via 90min, reports that Coutinho is experiencing pain that should have subsided at this point in his recovery and that Coutinho’s April return date has now been pushed back to the end of May.

Now the official Barcelona website has said Coutinho has returned to Brazil for further treatment in an attempt to resolve the issue. Coutinho is also said to have recently spent some rehabilitation time in Qatar working with a specialist.

It’s no secret that Barcelona want to offload Coutinho in the future, so it’s possible he played his last game for the Blaugranes. The ‘little magician’ is on astronomical salaries at the financially crippled club and selling him will be one of Barca’s top priorities this summer.

Obviously at BFW we wish Coutinho the best of luck in his rehabilitation. And who knows, we might see him again at the Allianz in the future, and maybe even play for Bayern. He certainly didn’t burn any bridges in Munich and despite having a shaky start in Bavaria, he always showed a positive attitude throughout his time at the club.
