Ben & Jerry's publishes a partial reminder of 2 flavors on undeclared nuts

(Gray News) – Ben & Jerry's recalled a limited amount of two flavors because they could contain nuts that are not listed in the ingredient lists or allergy information lists on the packages.

Some Coconut Seven Layer Bar bulk products and some pints of Chunky Monkey may contain nuts, including almonds, Brazil nuts and hazelnuts, Ben & Jerry's parent company, Unilever, has announced through US Food and Drug Administration.

Unilever began its voluntary recall after discovering an undeclared nut during the production process, which "results from an error by one of its nut suppliers". However, "the situation has been corrected," the company said.

Unilever warns people who are allergic or very sensitive to undeclared nuts that could have a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they ate the recalled ice cream. The company has not received reports of diseases related to the recalled flavors.

These recalled products are:

Ben & Jerry's Bar Seven Layer Bar bulk product sold in a tank containing 2.4 gallons with a UPC consumption of 076840104246 and the best yield of SEP1520BJ4

Ben & Jerry's Chunky Pint Monkey sold in a pint pot (473 ml) with a consumer UPC of 076840100354 and the best dates of AUG2820BH2, AUG2920BH2 or AUG3020BH2

Both flavors have been distributed nationwide. Coconut Seven Layer Bar Ice Cream has reached customers through wholesale and scoop stores. Chunky Monkey pints were delivered to retail stores.

No other Ben & Jerry's product is concerned with the recall, with the exception of the specific lots advertised.

Customers who purchased the recalled batches are asked to "immediately stop using the product", but keep the container and dial 833-236-1237 for more information.
