Benjamin Mendy admitted that conditions were stuck in Manchester City during his Carbao Cup semi-final win at Burton, but congratulated the team that looked young to have accomplished the job.

City had a 9-0 lead in the second leg and Sergio Aguero's goal was enough for Pep Guardiola at the Pirelli Stadium.

Aguero and Kevin De Bruyne started for City, but Guardiola debuted at Ian Carlo Poveda and Felix Nmecha, while Aro Muric, Eric Garcia and Philippe Sandler also debuted.

He is the youngest player in City for 11 years and Mendy, who returned from a two-month injury after a halt in the second half, congratulated the team on a tough night.

He said: "This was not a strange game. When we come here, we try to play and win the game." It was not bad, a good performance we tried to create.

Reaction Burton Albion vs Man City

Mendy said the senior locker professionals were there to talk to them about the number of young players in the team.

"For some players, it was the first time, but we help them, let's say they are not shy, enjoy the same things during their training.

"The most important thing is to win the match and we did the job tonight."

Mendy played for the first time since a knee surgery two months ago, and said he felt good after his 30-minute appearance.

But the French admitted that the icy pitch at the Pirelli stadium was not conducive to the rapid attack of the football city posted in the first leg at Etihad.

"The conditions, we knew we had to be rigid, like every time we play," he said. "I'm not saying that we do not care about the conditions, but it was not easy to play with the conditions.

"But I feel good, and most importantly, my body feels good, my legs feel good and I'm happy."
