The Ghanaian Bernard Tekpetey is back in the German club Schalke after having played his rival SC Paderborn, 11 months only after joining the newly promoted team.
At 21, the player returns to the Royal Blues after activating his surrender option.
Tekpetey, who moved to Germany in 2016, scored 10 goals and provided six badists in 32 second-place matches to help SC Paderborn seal his Bundesliga promotion.
"I want to thank the coaching staff, the management team, the players, the Physio Physicians / Team," wrote Tekpetey on social media.
"Many thanks also to SC Paderborn fans for their support, God bless everyone."
Tekpetey joined Schalke in 2016 from the UniStar Soccer Academy in his home country and played for the club's U-23 team.
He then joined the first team group in the summer of 2016, before playing two Bundesliga matches and one Europa League match for the club.
Tekpetey joined SCR Altach for the 2017/18 season and played in ten league games, scoring a goal.
His stay in Austria was overshadowed by a two-match ban after his expulsion due to his reaction to alleged racial insults during a draw in the Austrian Cup.
He has played twice for the Black Stars, who have reached the last four games of the Africa Cup of Nations 2017 in Gabon.
