While he remains about two months at Bice Osei Kuffour, better known as Obour, to become president of the Union of Musicians of Ghana (MUSIGA), his vice president oversees his work. .
Veteran musician Bessa Simons, who has been MP for Obour for eight years, wants to lead Ghana's largest body of musicians.
As Mr. Obour's second term as president of MUSIGA draws to a close, the plan to elect a successor has truly begun.
The musicians' body has set June 26th of this year as the date on which members will elect a new president.
After performing various duties at MUSIGA, including as an acting national organizer, second vice president and now senior vice president, Bessa believes that he is the ideal man for the position.
The musician, who had purchased appointment forms last Friday, told Sammy Forson in an interview with Cosmopolitan Mix on Joy FM that he had a lot to offer to the musician's body.
"If I got the green light, I will bring my expertise and experience to help the (MUSIGA) grow," he said.
Bessa Simons firmly believes that the administration of Obour has "accomplished a lot and I think that there is still much to be done and, knowing where we are, I think I can continue and add all that remains to be done."
Asked about his plans for MUSIGA, the veteran musician will not divulge any details, but adds that his manifesto will highlight what he has for musicians, including a "radical change in the way of progress. Things will be much faster … "
He said that it would help promote Ghanaian music, heritage and culture and promote unity between musicians, young and old.
The musicians, Bessa added, will benefit from a series of workshops aimed at improving and improving their skills.
