Affiliate giant Better Collective increased its stake in responsible gaming solutions provider Mindway AI by 70%, for a total consideration of DKK 17m (£ 2.0m / € 2.3m / 2 , $ 8 million).

Having acquired a 19.99% stake in the company in September 2019, which develops software based on artificial intelligence and neuroscience to identify, prevent and intervene in risky and problematic gambling, it now owns around 90% of the activity.

The remaining 10% is held by Kim Mouridsen, founder of Mindway and professor at Aarhus University in Denmark.

The investment, Better Collective explained, supports its ambition to ensure customers play safe.

“Responsible gaming remains a strategic area of action for Better Collective, where we continue to increase our efforts,” said Managing Director Jesper Søgaard. “We regard Mindway AI’s technologies and software solutions as best-in-class and expect the company to play an increasingly important role in the igaming ecosystem as responsible gaming continues to be at the top of the game. agenda of industry and society as a whole.

“It has been impressive to follow the strong development of the company over the past year since our initial investment and I am delighted to continue to build on the promising collaboration we have established and to find new areas in which our basic skills can be crossed and used for the benefit of partners and actors. “

Following the deal, Mindway CEO Rasmus Kjærgaard will retain his post, having played a key role in bringing the business to market over the past year, according to its new majority owner. This has seen its solutions such as GameScanner, Gamalyze, and GameChanger rolled out by major gaming companies such as Entain (formerly GVC Holdings), Flutter Entertainment, and Holland Casino.

He joined the company in December 2019 after leaving the IT company Signaturgruppen, where he was Vice President of Sales. Mouridsen will also remain involved as Scientific Director, with the company operating as a stand-alone company within the Better Collective company.

“I am delighted that Mindway AI is now joining the Better Collective Group, an organization that shares our purpose and values and sincerely wishes to create a safe and sustainable betting and gaming environment for gamers around the world,” said Kjærgaard.

“With this investment, we are now forging closer ties with an organization that has the network and the muscles of the industry to further accelerate the development of our company,” he continued. “I look forward to continuing the strong growth of Mindway AI and further expanding our footprint globally.”
