Images of a Lime scooter burnout in Dunedin were posted on a Facebook group.

Shaey McDonnell filmed burnout two days ago, on Spencer Street, and uploaded it to Facebook, claiming the scooter was better than a "Honda".

The Dunedin Local said that a number of people were using scooters "to make slips and tricks" since their launch in the city last week.

"We do not intend to hurt ourselves," he added.

The video received over 100 comments in a few hours about the closed group in which it was posted.

While some people found the video amusing, others thought it was an example of the "pleasure" of someone who was spoiling it for others.

The Lime scooters arrived in Dunedin last week and many people quickly went to the emergency room with scooter – related injuries, mainly to the hands, feet and head.
