BGT viewers are disconcerted after Mark McMullan's performance

The British Got Talent viewers were bewildered by the fact that the judges did not press their golden ring for competitor Mark McMullan.

The 23-year-old singer has played a moving interpretation of Bring Him Home des Misérables in dedication to his brother Declan, who has Locked-In Syndrome.

About his song choice, Mark said, "Bring Him Home is a very personal song for me and my family.

"Nearly six years ago, my older brother fell ill with a brain injury. He is here today, but he suffers from a condition called lock-in syndrome, which means he is trapped in his own body.

"The only thing he can really do is hear. My music has become a great comfort to him.

The judges praised Mark's congratulations. Simon said, "He's lucky to have a brother like you.

"You gave meaning to this song that I had not thought of before.I tell you that I was really impressed by Mark, that is, you managed to combine a real tenderness with this song, then you have entered the strength of the second half of the performance.

"It would not surprise me if you started getting calls from West End producers, maybe Broadway, because you're so good."

Mark was sent to the next round with four yes judges.

Many viewers, however, were puzzled. Amanda Holden did not press her golden ring.
