In her next film, Sonchiriya, actress Bhumi Pednekar says she is cut off from the world for her role as a 1970s Chambal, who lives and survives in the badlands in the midst of bloodthirsty, thirsty dacoits.
The actor, known for his work in Dum Laga Ke Haisha, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, is looking forward to the release of his fourth film (Sonchiriya), directed by Abhishek Chaubey.
In a statement to IANS, Bhumi explained what had been put in the spirit and soul of his character: "Acting for me is a process of metamorphosis. It's about forgetting who I am and becoming an entirely new person.
"Every artist has his method and each character requires a different approach and for Sonchiriya, I needed isolation. I opted for a monotonous approach that had seen me cut off from the world in general and accompanied by my character to understand the spirit, psyche and behavior of what I was becoming.
The only people she met during this time were her immediate family.
Naming herself a "restless actor," Bhumi added, "As long as I do not find the person I am seeking to become, I can not find my peace. I got off the hook and lived with my character for about 30 days.
"I have so unlearned to learn the most about her. I stayed at home, did a lot of research and had a basic human interaction with my family before taking my flight to Chambal.
"It's hard to disconnect from loved ones, the Internet and life. But that was the only way to do it.
After her preparation, she lived in Chambal for a week before shooting began to familiarize herself with the field.
