James Gunu, NDC regional secretary for the Volta, who confirmed the news to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said that a total of 15 women out of 74 people chose nomination forms after the closing of the Friday to compete for various seats in Parliament. Region.

He added that Charles Agbeve, MP for Agortime-Ziope, objected because he was the only candidate to have chosen the application form before the closing of the candidacy.

Mr. Gunu added that the Functional Executive Committee (FEC), in consultation with the Secretary General, had directed that the process of selecting parliamentary primaries in the Hohoe constituency be allowed to continue with immediate effect.

He added that this followed a meeting Friday between the FEC and the Hohoe constituency.

The regional secretary said the date has been extended to Tuesday for eligible party members who wish to challenge the parliamentary primaries in the Hohoe constituency in order to choose the nomination forms.

Mr. Gunu revealed that the initial schedule for the holding of the parliamentary primaries remained unchanged and indicated that party leaders in the region were committed to creating a level playing field for all aspirants for free, fair, credible and transparent primaries.
