LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas – A bill requiring food service workers to be vaccinated against hepatitis A.
This comes after positive tests for hepatitis A have been reported among restaurant employees in East Arkansas.
Every positive case of hepatitis A in a restaurant employee that we have reported presents minimal risk to the public.
Health officials always suggest getting vaccinated just in case.
"I think that vaccines make the difference, that vaccines save lives, reduce the number of cases of illness and that in general, from the point of view of the doctor, I will tell you vaccinations, vaccinations, vaccinations", explains Dr. Shane Speights with NYIT.
This bill is sponsored by Jack Ladyman representative of Jonesboro.
It has been allocated to the public health, welfare and labor committee of the House.
