Last year, Charli XCX, Dorian Electra and Allie X hosted The Billy Ball, a fundraiser to raise funds to help Clayton fight his disease and raise awareness of Ewing's sarcoma.

It was announced via Twitter Thursday, March 28 that Billy Clayton, a 22-year-old pop singer and protégé of Charli XCX, died Tuesday. The singer suffered from an aggressive form of bone cancer, Ewing's sarcoma, which prevented him from singing towards the end of his life.

In a note posted on her Twitter account, Clayton's mother, Becky Clayton, said the singer died peacefully at his home on Tuesday night. "He held up for so long and had more strength than anyone could ever imagine," she writes. "But his body would no longer allow him to live life that he desperately wanted and his soul needed to escape to be free."

Clayton's mother noted that Billy had never been able to travel to Los Angeles, where he was determined to pursue a full-time musical career. But she thanked all her fans and supporters for their constant love and affection. "I had the honor of being Billy's mother and I will be forever and again next time," she wrote. "Thank you to everyone who helped and supported us, your love is so important."

During his short career, Clayton published EPs titled Star and Flowering, while his last effort was "Fear", a beautiful and mesmerizing title to the fear inherent in the death of the star before becoming a singer, while finally rejecting his frightened feelings instead of trust.

Last year Charli XCX, Dorian Electra and Allie X also hosted and performed at Billy Ball, a fundraiser to raise money to help Clayton fight his disease and spread the word about sarcoma. # 39; Ewing. Artists such as Vincint, Daya, Bronze Avery, Carlie Hanson, Zolita and others also performed at the event.

In an interview with Display panel Last December, Clayton had declared that he would pursue his dreams of becoming a pop singer, regardless of the course of his illness. "I do it because I think that's what I'm supposed to do," Clayton said. "Motivation comes from a place of pleasure, excitement, pbadion and usually the need to be a creative individual."

A number of celebrities have posted commemoration messages on social media in the singer's honor, including Jesse Saint John, Leland and Allie X. "Billy Clayton, you could not beat you any harder. Stay in power handsome boy, Allie wrote.
