BBC Africa staff read excerpts from Binyavanga Wainaina's famous satirical essay, How to Write on Africa, as a tribute to the late writer.
The award winning Kenyan writer died in Nairobi after a short illness at the age of 48.
He won the Caine Award for African Writing in 2002.
Wainaina was also named one of Time Magazine's Top 100 Most Influential People in 2014 for her gay rights activism.
