Double signature

The city of Birmingham has confirmed the signing of Spanish midfielder Augustin Medina of the EU Cornella.

Medina, 24, signed a two-year contract at St Andrew's and became the club's second official signing after Ivan Guzman.

Medina and Guzman joined Blues early in the pre-season and participated in the Portugal training camp as well as a selection of friendly matches.

While Guzman joined Blues and immediately signed with sister club Cornella on loan, the club did not reveal his plan for Medina.

The Medina, born in Barcelona, climbed the ladder in Valencia before joining CE Sabadell, Celta Vigo B, then Cornella.

He played 38 times for Cornella last season under the command of Xavi Calm, who recently joined Blues as a coach under 23 years old.

Medina is the Blues' sixth summer rookie after Gary Gardner, Dan Crowley, Jake Clarke-Salter, Ivan Sunjic and Guzman.

Vbadell's interest

Isaac Vbadell could leave the city of Birmingham temporarily before the end of the transfer period, writes Joe Chapman.

The Blues striker is sought after by the former Luton Town club, the club that sold him to Blues in the summer of 2017 during Harry Redknapp's tenure and the club's fast-paced run.

Vbadell's time at Blues was broken by wounds; indeed, the moment was particularly cruel.

After scoring the bench winner in a 1-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday – a match overseen by Lee Carsley – the striker was just beginning to enjoy a series of starting lineups alongside Che Adams in the early days of Steve Cotterill at the club after being injured in the knee in the draw with Aston Villa in October 2017.

<figure clbad=

He would not play until the defeat against Middlesbrough in January 2019 – his first appearance under Garry Monk – because of a setback in his recovery.

Vbadell, 25, played just two of 14 league games in the second half of last season, in part because Monk wanted to manage his return cautiously, as Adams and Lukas Jutkiewicz had moved ahead.

Remarkably, this Sheffield Wednesday winner remains his only goal for the club, and now the sun I think it could be loaned in a familiar environment.
