TOKYO (Kyodo) – Bitpoint Japan Co., the cryptocurrency exchange operator, announced Sunday it has discovered an additional 250 million yen ($ 2.3 million) in stolen digital currency after a loss of about 3 billion yen.

The Tokyo-based company said the latest hacking was discovered in foreign stock exchanges using the trading system set up by Bitpoint Japan.

The encrypted currency exchange operator announced Friday that it has suspended all transactions and services after hacking 3.5 billion yen. The company said on Sunday that the initial loss is now estimated at 3.02 billion yen.

Bitpoint Japan stores five crypto-currencies – bitcoin, bitcoin cash, ethereum, litecoin and ripple – in its so-called Internet-connected wallet system, according to a press release issued by its parent company, Remixpoint Inc.
