The electricity service provider, Power Distribution Service (PDS) of Ghana, has announced that its engineers were working to restore power after a rainstorm Sunday.
According to a statement issued by the PDS, the heavy rainstorm hit Accra and surrounding areas and caused breakdowns in the electricity distribution system.
"PDS would like to inform its dear customers and the general public that the heavy rainstorm that hit Accra and the surrounding area on the evening of Sunday, April 7, 2019, caused breakdowns in our distribution system. Affected customers should note that PDS engineers are working hard to fix errors and restore power, "the statement added.
The company also explained that the inconvenience caused was due to a natural event that they regretted.
Downpour
The rains on Sunday night left parts of Accra, including the Kwame Nkrumah circle and communities near the flooded Odaw River.
Pbadengers were forced to get off their vehicles and cross the water, while other vehicles were forced to change directions.
The road connecting the western ring road to the Ako Adjei interchange was also flooded, which sometimes impeded vehicular traffic.
