Following in her colleagues’ footsteps, BLACKPINK singer, rapper and dancer Lisa finally makes her solo debut with the release of her album LALISA, and a music video for her title song.
The avant-garde visual provides a showcase for Lisa’s many talents as one of the group’s most versatile and charismatic members. As expected, there are several costume changes as she rides motorcycles through the desert and transforms into a traditional Thai dancer. And of course, it wouldn’t be a Lisa solo song without a quick rap break.
Ahead of the solo mini-album, the singer from Thailand (real name Lisa Manoban) held an online press conference where she spoke about her feelings regarding the release of solo material.
“I am delighted to be able to show my first solo performance, and I hope BLINKs [BLACKPINK’s fans] I will examine it with kindness, ”she continued. “Because this is my first solo album, and also because the title of the album is my name ‘Lalisa’, that means a lot to me.
Describing her lead song, Lisa shared, “I think it’s a song that can really show the strength of my name and my confident side. I hope people will hear the song and think, ‘Wow, this is it. It’s something only Lisa can do. The choreography is also easy to dance to, so I hope you have fun dancing on it.
The singer and rapper also talked about bringing out elements of her Thai heritage in the song and music video, explaining, “I wanted ‘Lalisa’ to have a Thai feel. The ensemble and outfits also capture that Thai vibe well. After I said I wanted to include a Thai vibe, Teddy arranged the song in a Thai style, and I was so touched.
To celebrate the track, the K-pop idol also made his late-night solo TV debut with the first performance of “LALISA” on NBC’s. Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon this evening.
Beyond amassing billions of feeds and views in BLACK ROSE, Lisa has established herself as a global superstar in her own right. She has the distinction of being both “Most Followed K-Pop Star on Instagram” with over 58 million followers and “Most Subscribed Female K-Pop Artist on YouTube” with over 8 million of subscribers on his Lili’s Film channel.
