Salifu Saeed, Northern Regional Minister
Minister of the North Region, Salifu Saeed, said that it was necessary to blame the devil for the resumption of the conflict between Chokosis and Kokombas, which cost the life in Chereponi, in the north of the country.
He recommends a spiritual fight with the devil to help stop the conflict permanently.
Several properties were destroyed while hundreds of residents fled their homes to avoid being caught in the ongoing conflict.
NADMO also has difficulty accessing communities where many affected people are in urgent need of relief items.
Addressing Starr News, Mr. Saeed, supervisor of the new Northeast region, said the devil had seized Chereponi and that the only way to solve the problem was that religious leaders can pray and appeal to ancestors.
"With Chereponi, the ongoing conflict is unfortunate … these two tribes got married, so for me, it's the devil who has stormed the area.
"We will therefore ask religious leaders and other badistic priests to invoke ancestors and pray. Security will support them so that they forgive each other so that we live together in peace.
Alhaji Saeed, however, expressed his astonishment at the latest clashes, particularly following the work of the inquiry committee of which he is a member.
The Northern Regional Minister also badured that relief items would soon be transported to displaced people in Chereponi.
