Exclusive information available for ABC News Ghana suggests a rather disturbing situation for many Africans, including Ghanaians, who migrate to greener pastures.

ABC News Ghana can confirm revealing information on how body parts of many African emigrants, mainly Nigerians, are sold on the black market at a price of between USD 119,000 and USD 262,000.

The criminal act, according to ABC News Ghana, may be confirmed by a union that lures victims, under the pretext of obtaining travel documents and getting a job in the Middle East. The victims are then murdered on arrival at their destination and their body parts are sold on the black market.

Some of these parts of the body are sold for $ 262,000.

The union usually focuses on the removal of human organs such as kidneys, heart and liver. Black market kidneys currently cost about $ 260,000, while human hearts sell for nearly $ 120,000. The livers, meanwhile, are priced at 157,000 USD.

Nigeria is the country most affected by this rather disturbing trend, according to a report by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) dated April 7, 2019.

The growing phenomenon can be attributed, among other things, to high unemployment rates in some of these African countries. Nigeria has been alerted to the worrisome situation with other countries such as Ghana. He was also urged to take pragmatic steps to curb the threat given the recent incidents of travel and recruitment agencies that drew Ghanaians to the Middle East jobs on arrival.

The exact measures that the Government of Ghana intends to put in place to protect citizens have not yet been known, despite the strong message expressed by several sources. ABC News Ghana that the issue has been seriously addressed by the agencies concerned.
