The Nigerian Army Defense Headquarters (DHQ) sounded the alarm bells for insurgents buying fertilizer to make bombs.
The coordinator of the Defense Media Operations Directorate (DDMO), Major-General John Enenche revealed this on Friday January 15 during a press briefing on military operations from January 7 to 13.
Eneche said the use of fertilizers by criminal gangs threatened the security of the nation.
He said;
“While fertilizers are primarily intended for agriculture, the possibility that they will be acquired by criminal gangs, terrorists and activists for sinister purposes cannot be ignored as fertilizer has remained a potential component for manufacturing. explosives due to its ammonium nitrate content.
“In addition, fertilizers pose a security threat given the current security challenges.”
