Nigerians will vote for their new government on Saturday.

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari won the elections in 2015, promising to fight against corruption and the armed group Boko Haram.

A recent upsurge in attacks claimed by Boko Haram in the Lake Chad region has forced tens of thousands of people to flee their homes. Violence affects parts of Chad, Niger and Cameroon, with Borno State in Nigeria being the most affected.

Ahmed Idris of Al Jazeera, of the state capital, Maiduguri, explained that security remained a priority for the upcoming elections in Nigeria.
