Boko Haram insurgents have taken control of more than 500 communities in the LGA of Shiroro, Niger state, according to Shiroro president Suleiman Chukuba.
Speaking to reporters on Friday, September 30, Chukuba said no less than 8 LGA neighborhoods are now under siege by Boko Haram.
He said the affected areas are Manta, Gurmana, Bassa-Kokki, Allawa, Kurebe, Kushaka, Kwati, Chukuba and Galadima Kogo.
He said: “They are incorporating people from these communities telling them that they have guns and money to give them so that they can help them fight the government.
“The local government in Shiroro has countless numbers of Boko Haram fighters.
“I have proof that I am the executive chairman, the local government security officer. When they go to the different communities, what they tell them is, ‘We don’t want primary schools, Islamiyya schools ”.
The council chairman called on the federal government to deploy more security agents in the region to fight the insurgents who have taken up residence in Shiroro.
