"Parasite" by South Korean director Bong Joon-ho won the Sydney Film Festival's main prize, the Sydney Film Prize.
Just weeks after becoming the first South Korean filmmaker to win the prestigious Palme D 'Or in Cannes, Bong received the Sydney Award at the closing ceremony of the festival.
The chairman of the festival jury said that "Parasite" "shows outrageous disregard for gender conventions" and constitutes a "masterpiece of clbad exploration".
Two years ago, Bong's previous film "Okja" was selected as the closing film of the festival.
"Parasite" will be released in Australia on June 27th.
