President Akufo-Addo appears to tarnish his image with what the Bono region's National Democratic Congress (NEC) has described as "palpable lies" against former president John Mahama.
The president reportedly lied about some roads in the southern district of Asutifi, claiming that the previous NDC government had declared in its "green paper" that the Sankore-Nawbeko road had been completed.
According to Charles Akowuah, the NDC's communications officer for the NDC in the Bono area, the president who visited the people of Sankore would have lied to them that the NDC had captured the road as paved.
Addressing Mugabe Maase on Inside Politics, Akowuah however pointed out that the previous government had made no such comment, adding that the road had been approved on July 5, 2016 by contract with MESSRS BK Nsiah Company Limited, after the publication of the Green Paper.
"It was out of the question for the road to be mentioned in the green book because the book had been printed before the road was entrusted to a contractor … NDC never mentioned the road in the book, that it is a description or an image as wrongly mentioned by the president, "Clarifia Akowuah.
He added that the Green Paper, cited by the President as evidence, had absolutely nothing to say on the road from Sankore to Nobekaw.
"The road was awarded and the work began until the Minister of Roads, Nana Akufo-Addo's cousin, demanded the stoppage of work on all roads in the country. If the work on the road had progressed, the road would have already been paved. If the road is bad, we will blame Akufo-Addo and his government, "Akowuah said.
Charles Akowuah thinks the president deliberately lied to "throw the veil on the
NDC and former president, H.E. John Dramani Mahama "to mark a cheap political point.
The party therefore demanded that Nana Akufo-Addo apologize to former president Mahama for the "lies".
He said that if the President could not put pressure on former President Mahama for the good works that he had accomplished in the Brong Ahafo area, he should not lie about the fact. former president.
