Arsenal has blocked the loan transfer proposed by Eddie Nketiah to Augsburg after failing to sign Ivan Perisic or Yannick Ferreira Carrasco.

The Gunners had planned to loan striker Nketiah for more play opportunities, as he was "frustrated" by his position in the UAE.

The 18-year-old has only played a minute of Premier League football this season, his first three teams debuting in the Europa League and FA Cup.

The sun say that Augsburg and a number of championship clubs were interested in getting things done until the summer.

But now he has been told "he still needs him" after the club failed to get in Perisic or Carrasco.

An agreement for Perisic was canceled by Inter, as the two parties failed to reach an agreement as Carrasco's loan fees proved too costly.

One of Arsenal's youth, however, seems to have to leave for the Bundesliga, with Emile Smith Rowe directed to RB Leipzig on loan.
