Boxing News: Daniel Dubois promises to beat Joe Joyce after knocking out Richard Lartey

Young heavyweight Daniel Dubois is committed to defeating Joe Joyce after eliminating Richard Lartey in three rounds.

The Greenwich fighter raised his professional record to 11-0 with the demolition of his Ghanaian opponent at SSE Wembley Arena.

Dubois avoided any distractions amid rumors of a huge wave of panic with Frank Warren's new roommate, Joe Joyce.

Lartey, who almost had to withdraw from the bout due to midweek visa problems, revealed a clumsy opponent and briefly disrupted Dubois, as both men exchanged big punches in the third round.

But Dubois was always the best fighter and found his calm against Lartey with a fishing right hand with a minute in the fourth round.

It was another knockout of Dubois, despite a relatively low level opposition.

He could now face Joyce later this year with the British duo commissioned by the British Boxing Board of Control for the vacant British title – and Dubois insists that he will impose it.

Dubois told BT Sport: "It was a shooting battle and I was still trying to hit him with shots.

"I let my mind go away so I thought, you know what, I have to pick the right moves.

"I hit him with a good shot and I caught him to the point where I wanted all night, so that was a lesson learned.

"The guy was tough, tough and strong, he swayed but these are lessons learned again – just to be careful at all times.

"There are big aligned fights.

"If I continue to win and continue to progress, I get closer to those guys, and if I continue to win, I'll be sharing the ring soon with those guys."

"Certainly, I'm going to beat him (Joyce)." As long as the preparation is good, I stay focused, listen to the people around me, I batra all those I believe.

Joyce, meanwhile, felt that Dubois was sometimes troubled before finally maintaining his record of victories.

"He did the job," said Joyce. "It was a very entertaining fight.

"He was a little troubled by Lartey at times, but he got her out of there.

"It's an option (fight Dubois)." I fought at Stevenage on May 18. It's a good warm-up, so I should be back in July.

"Potentially, I'll talk to Frank (Warren) and my managers and we'll see what happens."

Elsewhere on the SSE Arena, Sunny Edwards stopped Pedro Matos on a superb performance as he gets closer to a world title shot.
